Leia's list of book nerd behavior - Part 1:
🐾 “Adulting” means you can cancel plans & read under a blanket fort all day. 🐾 You want to start a petition to stop publishers from changing book covers to match the movie posters but you’re too busy reading. 🐾 You know your super power is disappearing into books. You debate on making a costume for it, but you’re too busy reading. 🐾 You want to plot revenge on the person who spoiled the ending of your book, but you’re too busy reading the next book.

Do you put yourself on book buying bans?
Kylo decided: 🐾Book buying bans are illegal (Mommy told me to say that because she’s an author). 🐾Book buying bans are like treat eating bans and that is just cruel and unusual. Unfortunately, adult concepts like budget, lack of space, and other boring reasons causes many to not buy books. I hope you don't have to adult too much and buy Mommy's books. Do you struggle deciding whether to finish reading a book or not?
Leia decides to DNF (Do Not Finish) when: 🐾 Book has cruelty to animals— bye you stupid book 🐾 Book is so hard to like she literally has eat treats to trudge through it—bye boring book 📖 I do my best to finish books, but like Leia, I can’t tolerate offensive stuff like cruelty to animals. Besides, life is short, you need to enjoy the journey. Don't waste your time trying to read a book that can't keep your attention. That being said, you may need to stop reading it and pick it up again some other time. My mood dictates what books I read at the time. If after you try again, it's still not giving you joy, it may not be the book for you. What book character’s death hit you the hardest?
Warning Spoilers for series: Harry Potter, Divergent, Red Rising, and Anne of Green Gables 1. Denial: I kept waiting for Dumbledore in Harry Potter to show up alive. I thought he was tricking Voldemort. 2. Anger: When the J.K. Rowling killed Dobby and Hedwig, I was mad. It didn't have to go down like that. I was also angry about Tris dying in the Divergent series. 3. Bargaining: I always wanted to talk to the authors and ask them why? Maybe they could rewrite it if I give them chocolate? (LOL) Veronica Roth has been clear she wrote Divergent the way she did and felt it was the only way to end it. I'm not sure what Rowling would say, but she can't change it now that is has been permanently etched on film. 4. Depression: I cried when Matthew died in the Anne of Green Gables series. I got a little depressed when Ragnar died in Red Rising series too. I think of Matthew like my grandpa. He had a good life and it was his time to go. I didn't deny, get angry, or bargain, because life has it's phases, but that doesn't mean I wasn't sad. 5. Acceptance: Unlike real people & my fuzzy family members (Walter, Tigger, & Hobbes), I can eventually accept a fictional character's death and move on to another book. The real ones will always leave a hole in my heart. I think the tears we cry over fictional characters come from the pain we feel from actual people/pets in our lives who have passed. We often find the empathy and sympathy to deal with our pain from books. Characters teach us to mourn or maybe to forget our own grief while we focus on someone else's. Books are more than just fantastical stories. They are lessons on how to move forward through the depths of our sorrow. They are the escape from a world that isn't always kind or comforting. ❓Do you loan people your books?
Leia doesn’t because: 🐾 Book gets returned with dog-eared pages instead of using a bookmark—the bad habits of uncivilized cats. 🐾 She would never see the book again—stray cat behavior. 🐾Book gets returned with slobber or something disgusting on pages—ally cat manners. 🐾 She would miss the book too much. |
