March 2 is Read Across America Day, a day to celebrate our favorite activity. The day was established by the National Education Association (NEA) in 1998 to help get kids excited about reading. The day occurs each year on the birthday of beloved children’s book author Dr. Seuss (Mar 2, 1904 – Sep 24, 1991). A lesser-known fact about Dr. Seuss is that he created the word nerd.
A perfect way to celebrate is to read one his famous tales, like Cat in the Hat or make up your own silly rhyme like I did using the antics of my jester, Kylo. “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.”- Dr. Seuss
