Has anyone ever said to you, "It's crazy how much you read"? Do you silently put their name in your black book of people to disown? But seriously, people have all kind of vices and indulgences. Is reading really one that should be criticized?
Reasons books are the best habit to get into: 1. Reading strengthens your mind. 2. Reading helps you empathize better. 3. Reading builds your vocabulary. 4. Reading helps prevent cognitive decline when you age. 5. Reading reduces stress. 6. Reading helps you to sleep better. 7. Reading alleviates depression. (Although, some books make me super sad.) 8. Reading will help you live longer. Always take time to stop and smell the books. I mean this literally and metaphorically. (Cats always mean this literally about all things. It's how they investigate.)
1. Books can promise temporary escape from stress and adulting. Tomorrow isn't promised, so don't feel guilty taking time to read. 2. The pages of a book can be the most delicious fragrance. It isn't only the scent itself but the memories they stir up. Books 📚pencils ✏️ and even crayons 🖍️ make me think of childhood—carefree and the birth of my imagination 💭 This reminds me of a cute quote from the movie You've Got Mail. 🎥 “I would send you a bouquet of newly sharpened pencils if I knew your name and address.” ~ Joe Fox It isn't always about the object, but what the object makes you think about and sometimes books bring back so many pleasant recollections. That's why book nerds get high from sucking in their perfume. Have you ever anxiously waited for book mail? What’s the most recent book you received?
I admit it. I look out the windows with Leia for package deliveries. I don't get a lot of book mail, but when I do, I feel like a kid on Christmas morning. Giddy, elated, and ready to do a jig. What’s the last cliffhanger you read? Can you relate to Kylo’s struggle?
Cliffhangers are like a delicious dessert you can’t wait to dig into, but sad when it’s over. We want the mystery revealed, but then what’s after the conclusion? Book hangover? Reading slump? It can leave you feeling anxious for the next book in the series. It can also make you upset, because the author led you on like that. Let me know in the comments your opinion of cliffhangers. |
