I'm getting ready for Mom's new May fairy tale theme on Instagram. Just call me King Hobbes the first. Mom tried to get me to read these books, but as soon as I realized even the Rule of Wolves didn't really have wolves in it, I gave up. Not that wolves are better than cats, but I like to read about them, so I can know how to beat them up in a fight since I'm so tough. Here are Mommy's ratings even though she likes me to say they're mine: Rule of Wolves = 4 🐾 The Flight Girls = 5 🐾 Legion, Skin Deep, Lies of Beholder = 4 🐾 All the Stars and Teeth = 4 🐾 Jasper = We won't rate this book since Mom wrote it, but of course she likes to think it is a 5🐾book. Mom's comments: Rule of Wolves had several 5 star parts, but overall, it wasn't as fun to read as the rest of the Grishaverse books by Leigh Bardugo. I think if I reread it in the future, I may end up changing my mind, but there were some slower parts. It brings back many of the Six of Crows / Shadow and Bone characters, but Nikolai is my favorite. There is a part where one of the characters dies and I struggled with that A LOT. The Flight Girls was historical fiction and it really interested me since I researched the World War II women pilots for my YA time travel book, Travelers. Cornelia Fort was the real live pilot who saw the first Japanese plane come into Pearl Harbor while she was out with her student during a flight lesson. I saw a lot of similarities between the main character in this book and Cornelia. I wrote a blog about her (I included the link to the blog below this review). Legion was three books in one. It was so unique! The character has what he calls hallucinations, which are basically parts of him. Because he's so intelligent, he has split personalities that are experts in different things. He gets paid a lot to solve crimes or mysteries, but he uses all of his hallucinations to achieve success. This book definitely isn't like any book I've ever read before. All the Stars and Teeth was a different kind of story about magic with a pirate and mermaid. I had trouble getting into it at first with the world building, but once you get past the history and names, it gets more interesting. I also struggled with the style of magic and how it was used. It was unique but a little too unique for my tastes. Since I've been busy getting Jasper edited and ready to publish May 14, I didn't read as much. I'm satisfied with what I accomplished in April even with all my distractions, including Hobbes, who needs a lot of extra care. He's worth it of course, but he does require more with his age and health needs.

R.I.P.
Tigger & Hobbes added a lot of fun and life to this blog until they were taken from this world. I didn't have the heart to update this part of my website until now. I won't delete this, because they were a part of my journey. Archives
