Castle Neuschwanstein is located in Germany. I must say it is one of my favorites since the exterior captures all the expectations I have of what a castle should look like. When I visited it, I was surprised to see that not all the rooms of the castle were finished. King Ludwig II, who had the castle built, had been found drowned under mysterious circumstances before the interior was done. The completed rooms were magnificent to view, but those that were only shells reminded me of my stories. My books never seem to be finished (I'm still editing Elle's Magical Shoes for the umpteenth time). Though I get to the end, there is always tweaking that needs to be done. I sometimes feel like I’m spinning my wheels and I will never be finished.
King Ludwig II also had Castle LInderhof built, which reminds me of what I want my books to be someday; extraordinary and complete.
Then there is the magical world of Disney with Cinderella’s castle in Florida and Sleeping Beauty’s Castle in California. Cinderella was my favorite princess when I was a little girl. I danced around the house to the record and memorized the songs. “A dream is a wish your heart makes when you’re fast asleep.”I ate in the restaurant inside the castle, because there is no other way to see the interior. The castle has a suite for special guests to sleep, but it is a one in a million shot for someone like me to sleep there. Again I compare my writing to a castle, because it is a long shot for my books to get read by millions once I get them published. Yet . . . like Cinderella, a girl can dream can't she?
Though I sometimes feel like I will never finish my books or get the world to read them, I still write for enjoyment. Ultimately I better myself by stretching the creative portions of my mind. I can’t remain stagnant working my office job daily without reaching for something beyond. So like King Ludwig II, I will keep creating my castles (books) for the realization of my dreams.
